If you ever wondered who to support besides Novak Djokovic – we have a perfect candidate: Andrea Picchione. This young man came for a tennis tournament to Novi Sad and found a stray puppy – not older than 6 weeks. The puppy was following Andrea, who shared his breakfast with him. It was love at first sight!
Andrea didn’t hesitate and he took the puppy with him. He named him Novi Sad and let it tag along with him. In between his tennis matches, together with another lovely human being, the tournament physiotherapist, he took the little one to a vet and provided him with a medical and other relevant care.
The puppy will get his microchip and passport soon in order to travel to his new home in Italy. On behalf of Pet Mondo, we will provide Andrea all the assistance to support his marvelous initiative. When he was asked to comment his decision to help and adopt a homeless puppy, Andrea said: “That was a natural thing for me to do! He (the puppy) is so little and needed my immediate help! Anyone would do the same – it’s not really a big deal!”
Well, for us, it is a major deal – we have so many stray animals in Serbia mostly due to irresponsible owners and a lack of human initiative to help animals in Serbia. And, this is really a great example how a person from foreign country, in midst of professional obligations, finds means and time to help another live being. And, moreover to make him the little Novi Sad a part of his family!
Bravo Andrea Picchione!
